McDonald's Billboards
Whether you love them or hate them, McDonald’s is everywhere, selling an estimated 50 million burgers every day. With that level of success you wouldn’t think they need to do advertising, maybe that’s why they’re having a bit of fun with it now.
Last year, McDonald’s ran a ‘Follow The arches’ campaign, a movement that involved usual highway signs, but with a clever twist. McDonald’s creatively used their infamous ‘M’ along with their iconic red and yellow colours to direct drivers to their nearest restaurant. Take a look:
The message is so clear that even driving at 70mph past it will allow you to catch on.
It was this very campaign that inspired me to carry out research into their other billboard campaigns. Which is when I realised that there’s loads of them! In fact, they’ve had a whole host of campaigns to advertise their fast food products in public places.
The most recent campaign being their ‘Directional Campaign - French Fries’ which uses french fries to direct drivers to their nearest restaurant:
But using such incredible creativity in their billboard ads is not a new thing for the billion-pound franchise; they’ve been doing it for a while now.

Finding new and exciting ways to advertise the same products is key to marketing in today’s fast paced world. It’s crucial to catching people’s attention and getting your marketing message across.
