I Am No Longer An Apprentice...
As soon as I started my job role as a ‘Digital Marketing Apprentice’ I began to understand the importance of building a personal brand.
One of the first things I did was set up a professional Twitter account so I could follow my classmates and enrich my learning. Once I’d done that, my tutor was explaining to us that we can use our own blog posts as pieces of evidence for our diploma.
Now I had already started writing a blog about my experiences as upon request from my Director. But as I was posting them on the business’ website, they had to be properly written and; although I had freedom in my style of writing, I still felt as though I was holding my true writing style back as to conform to what I think a business blog should be.
So that’s how this site was born and I had purposefully named it ‘Life as a Digital Marketing Apprentice’ - LAADMA for short.
That title perfectly describes what this blog was about, the ramblings of a digital marketing apprentice; covering all topics from my workload, college life and interests relevant to my subject area. Although these blogs aren’t very consistent, it is a great thing to do to fill the gaps between work.
As much as I try to promote how busy I am, there are always afternoons where you simply run out of things to do (or forget that I need to do something - which is usually the case for me!)
So writing a blog about something I’d found interesting or what was on my mind regarding work was always a good pass time.
However…
Within the last few weeks I have completed my Digital Marketing Diploma.
I knew I was going to finish fairly quickly, but a combination of great employers and a strong will to complete it went hand in hand and allowed me to finish in record time!
So that means that technically I am no longer an apprentice.
Not for long though.
The plan is to move onto the next level of qualification to further my skill set. I’ve done a lot of research about my options and spoken to a careers adviser from the college I’ve just left. After many discussions with my Director’s too, I think I’ll most probably do a Level 4 qualification through The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
The CIM course is much more focused on Marketing as a whole rather than just Digital Marketing so I feel as though I’ll gain a more holistic learning perspective.
I’m so fortunate that the business I work for are pleased with the contribution I make to the team. They are keen to support me with further education which is a great position to be in and I look forward to achieving even more in the future.
